Can’t get dragons lair enhancement 2.0 to launch. I bought the dragons lair 20th anniversary special addition. went through all the jargon to get dragons lair running. Found out it was missing some scenes. Thought I’d download the enhanced version and, it doesn’t work. I feel like I bought the dvd for nothing!!!!!!!!

@richard-baker I don't get it... did you come here to ask for help or vent-out?

Can you provide some basic info ... start with reading this post...

        https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

If you are having issues with Dragon's Lair DLE2 I can tell you, you probably have something named wrong, or missing the proper ROM for it. Daphne is very finicky about file names.

You need to give the basics first.

Hello @richard-baker and a belated welcome to this forum.

          https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

The line "How to replicate the problem:" from that link is an important one. Since we weren't there when you tried to get it working, and we are no psychics (as far as I know 🧐) to know it anyway, we'll need you to tell us what exactly you did and what happened: any effects, error messages etc.

Also very important is the verbose log mentioned in the link above. Follow the instructions linked there to create one and show it to us either in a code block or via https://pastebin.com/. Please don't just paste in the log without a code block in your post, because the forum's automatic text formatting will make it very hard to read.

Configuring Daphne and DLE 2.0 can be a very fiddly and error-prone process, I know that from my own painful experience. But with enough information we might be able to get you through it.

(If not, it should be no big problem to sell the Anniversary Edition again, since it should be a sought-after rarity among arcade fans by now.)

@clyde. I decided I’m fine with the version I have however, I have a new problem. I want to configure my controls but, I can’t find my configuration file on my USB stick.

              @richard-baker no problem.

How versed are you with the Retropie/Linux system?

You need to be able to get into the file system, from there, you can pull-up the config file and set the vaules.

The file is located in... /opt/retropie/configs.hdmi/daphne

              the file is called hypinput.ini

Before I go into how to set the vales, can you tell me if you can get to this file.

Gotta tell you a few more things...
#1: Like Clyde mentioned... you can resell the DVD set on eBay super easy.
#2: You can get updated versions of all the video files at 720p or even 1080p out there if you Google
#3: Dragon's Lair is only the beginning, you can get Cliff Hanger, DL2, Space Ace Enhanced... etc. the same way as #2.

              Best,

              Jam

@jamrom2. I really don’t know how to use Linux.

@richard-baker None of us did before we started to use it, and there was a time when you didn't know how to use your current OS that you are more or less familiar with now.

Besides, you don't have to know much about Linux to use RetroPie. It is a fairly out-of-the-box product, but it requires some willingness to learn. If that's not your thing, it just may be not for you. But I would really recommend giving it a try, because it can be really great if it finally works the way you want it to.

I can absolutely understand someone's frustration if things don't work like they want them to, it's just that "I don't know something new yet" always was a very strange argument against something new to me.

All that said, the most important thing is that you have fun with whatever suits your preferences best. 👍

As for your other problem with the controls, you should open another thread about that and start there by giving all the information that's asked for in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@clyde. When you say get into the file system do you mean that I have to get in the retropie terminal and type in what you said?

@richard-baker Same for me as Clyde .... I got to know it by desire to make things work.

It's not crazy hard, you'll be dealing with 1 emulator, but to get other working correctly, it does require some use of Linux and some basic permission changing commands. Mostly because some of the emulators require you to change files, or add them to folders that are locked-out by default.

                      So when you're ready...

                      • Get WinSCP (assuming you're on a Win7/10 based PC. It's free and acts like Windows Explorer. Very easy to use.
                      • Once you get it. Install it and hold.
                      • Start up Retropie... go to the Retropie set up area in EmulationStation (ES for short)
                      • Go to "show IP" - write it down. Keep in mind, it won't be permanent. Now and then they change, so you have to update it every so often.
                      • Go back to your PC. Double click WinSCP. The first screen that comes up you need to enter some info...

Hit Edit (right under the "host Name" box)
Type in your Pi's Wifi IP address there
                      User name: pi (lower case)
                      password: raspberry (lower case)
                      File protocol: default (SFTP)
                      Port: default (22)
                      Save
Hit Login... that's it. You're in.

Once you've done that.. come back and we'll go from there.

@jamrom2 Maybe I misunderstand your instructions, but did you forget to ssh on the Pi? It's disabled by default.

@clyde You're right.. he's still has to do that. I forget that, it's been a while since I did a complete build.

                            @jamrom2 Thanks for confirming this.

@richard-baker Before doing @jamrom2's last point ("Go back to your PC …"), you'll have to enable SSH in RetroPie. See the Docs for instructions, I recommend "(Option 2) From the RetroPie menu".
