Arcade roms error - This romset is know but roms doesnt match the emulator

Pi3 B +
Running Retropie - 4.7.1
Legit power supply
USB Connected currently - USB Keyboard , arcade joystick
Connected with 3.5mm jackHi All, I'm here because I give up, please note I'm new at this and I do not have a lot of knowledge. I've been through a lot of guides in this forum and others, your tube videos, google searches but I cant find the solution. its probably something simple and I need your guidense.
so I install Retropie 4.7.1 into a 32gb sd card, Snes and Nes roms are working but when I try to transfer mame roms I get this message: "This romset is know but roms doesnt match the emulator and its version". for exmaple I run Galaga and this is what I get before the error message: Launching Galaga (lr-fbneo-neocd). reading the arcade guides I got the roms version 0.73 for mame2003. every place I looked gave different location to place the mame roms so I've had them here: Arcade folder, fba folder and mame-libreto none worked. I've done it via retropi/roms and home/pi/retropie/roms. all roms are zipped. thank you.

If you have mame romset .73 and you are launching Galaga and it says lr-fbneo-neocd then you have it set to the wrong emulator for that rom and/or folder. When you launch Galaga if you press any key then you can change the emulator type for that game or all games in that folder (arcade as example). Probably best to have the mame ones in the arcade folder and set all games in that folder to lr-mame2003

@siniestro02 You obviously didn't read the official docs: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/

The simple reason is that you'll have to run a rom with the exact emulator (version) that it was built for. See @Darksavior's link for more about that.
Launching Galaga (lr-fbneo-neocd). reading the arcade guides I got the roms version 0.73 for mame2003.
Then why are you trying to run it with lr-fbneo-neocd instead of lr-mame2003?
every place I looked gave different location to place the mame roms so I've had them here: Arcade folder, fba folder and mame-libreto none worked.
On RetroPie, Roms for lr-mame2003 should go into
arcade
ormame-libetro
. The only difference between those two is thatarcade
allows more arcade emulators to choose from, whereasmame-libretro
only allows MAME cores (also, the former show up in an "Arcade" list in Emulation Station while the latter uses a "MAME" list).Regardless of their location, the roms still have to match the chosen emulator.
edit: typo

mame-libretro only allows MAME cores
Sorry, can't resist: only libretro MAME cores, there still is the folder mame-advmame for that MAME-Core and I am not sure what other non-libretro-cores exist (optional/experimental/etc.) which may add to the list of folders ;> .?.

@siniestro02 said in Arcade roms error - This romset is know but roms doesnt match the emulator:
lr-fbneo-neocd
As its name suggests, that's a neocd emulator, meaning a neogeo cd emulator. Galaga is a Namco game from 1981, it doesn't run on neogeo, neither on cd. With the proper romset, you can play galaga on lr-fbneo (without "-neocd"), read the documentation.
