Mame2003 Config Menu Empty

I was recently getting ready to play a game in LR MAME 2003 when I accessed the menu as normal to go into cheats and one way or another I ended up setting the "config menu" option as empty & now can't access the mame menu through F5 or any other way.
How do I fix it? I tried removing mame2003 and reinstalling it and that didn't help.
Is there a way to edit a config menu text file so I don't have to redo an entire retropie build from scratch?

@mat load a game in the core. open retroarch menu:
Retroarch main menu-> quick menu-> options-> display mame menu-> toggle on.Then remap the bind for the menu and toggle menu back to off in RA
