      Pi 4
CanaKit 3.5A Pi 4 Power Supply
      RetroPie Version: 4.7.1
      Built From: retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400.img.gz
Controller used: 8bitdo sn30pro+ Switch mode
      Plugged device: mini keyboard
      Emulator: LZDoom

I've been playing around with wads in LZDoom, and while I've gotten a ton of wads to work, some of them are so dark I can barely see what's happening

I already know about the 'sector light mode' setting, and It works for improving visibility. I've changed this to 'bright' or 'legacy' for a few excessively dark wads and can see much better, but a few other wads are still too dark.

I've tried changing the settings for brightness and gamma correction using the LZDoom menus in retropie, but this does absolutely nothing in game. there is no change whatsoever.

I've tried using the keyboard shortcut for gamma, and while the value is clearly going up, the graphics remain at the same dimness.

I've also tried downloading LZDoom for my laptop, opening up the same iwad/wad combination, and jacking up the brightness and gamma settings to the max (since they actually work on the laptop). At this point, the laptop basically displays a mostly white screen. I then copied these values to lzdoom.ini on my raspberry pi, and it's still dim.

How do I change the brightness for game/wads in LZDoom in retropie?

This is my current lzdoom.ini (https://pastebin.com/b5dtWTqi). Thank you for any help.

The PI4 doesn't support setting the gamma with the current video driver (Firmware KMS), if you look in the lzdoom log, you'll see some messages about setting the gamma not being supported. Ref: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues/1274

The new (pure) KMS driver may support this (judging by the comments in the linked issue), but it's not yet enabled by default in Raspberry Pi OS or RetroPie.

@mitu I see... Thanks for the info. At least I can stop wasting time trying to change this.
