N64 controller mapping not taking
-
Hi!
I feel like I’m in the twilight zone.
I purchased an n64 kiwitata controller for my retro pie and for the life of me, over 48 hours and multiple searches, I cannot re map it to actually work. Here’s what’s up.
I’ve tried to edit config files. I’ve tried the GUI configure input, I’ve tried the retro arch way.
Zero success. Unsure what’s up.
I feel like I’m editing the wrong device maybe?
Question 1:
When I do my controller config edits. I see on loading it shows :
Joystick port 1
Joystick port 2
Gamepad port 3
N64 controller port 4
N64 controller port 5
Gamepad port 6Now, in configuration editor, when I set up my controller order for the systems, I see controller 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Doesn’t match the port order above. For sure.
For example
3 is a joystick as well as 4
2 and 5 are game pads.
And
0 and 1 are the new n64 units (based on the labels.)So in order to get the arcade mame system working with my joysticks and then game pads for players 1-4
It’s 3 (joy left)4 (joy right),2(gp left),5(gp right)
And it works.
Yet for n64 it’s set for 4,3,1,0 which makes it work with the n64 controllers as player 1-2 and joysticks as player 3-4 (completely backwards)As well no matter how I re map, I cannot get the buttons working at all.
This system is new as of today, formatted and reinstalled from the proper loader.
Raspberry Pi 3
32gig sd.
Unsure what to do now. I’ve followed every video. Every doc.
I do however have the map of the controllers buttons. From the jstest command to see what’s up.
But I can’t change the map.Where am I going wrong?

@marconemusic also, lemme add.
That the controller order changes if I use a different emulator…
Currently I’m using the LR -
