Raspberry pi booting problems
-
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. I have a raspberry pi 4 b. I'm using it for retropie and want to build an arcade cabinet. I have an external hard drive connected to hold my roms. It has its own power. I've now connected arcade controls. 2 players, so 2 joysticks and all together 16 led buttons. While the controls are connected the raspberry pi will not boot up. If I disconnect them or use a regular controller it boots no problem. Would this possibly be because of the led power draw?

Not sure. the only way to know that is to plug in one side of your control panel at a time... or remove the LEDs from the buttons and see what happens. Plug them back in one at a time.
Did you check each switch for continuity? Maybe one of the micro switches is bad giving feedback to the Pi?
I don't know what power source you are using for the Pi as you didn't mention it, but usually 3.5 amp is the sold standards. That should be enough to drive the LED's as well.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
