The version of RetroPie you're using is a bit old - the error you're receiving comes from a 3rd party library that's not used anymore in EmulationStation. I would suggest to upgrade or try a more recent version of RetroPie.
How many files do you have in that folder (roms/n64) ?But if I change it, what will solve the problem?
Not using a proper power source can lead to all sorts weird errors. You shouldn't discard the under-voltage warnings and get a proper power source. At some point you may be corrupting or damaging the sdcard and you will lose the data you have stored on it.
