      Hi all,
Im a bit puzzled here, as I have no experience whatsoever regarding RetroPie and/or RPI.

Havent started my RPI for several months, today I decided to boot it up.
The boot sequence freezed exactly like this one:

      https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=220470

Not having any spare SD cards right now, I rebooted it a few times, and after a few tries, Retropie actually booted
      and was working as usual.
Did a few reboots and it was fine.

Turning it off however, caused it to hault again.

Figuring the card is giving up, i popped it out, and connected to my Surface Pro 4 (which is the only machine I have
with an integrated micro SD-card reader.
Win32DiskImager kept throwing errors regarding I/O which somewhat verified my thoughts - the card is dying somehow.
It usually fails after a few seconds, but I did manage to reach around 30% before it failed at one point.

How can I salvage everything on my card the easiest way?
Im not really keen on configuring everything from scratch (roms, scrapes, bios, configured controllers etc).

The best way would be to simply copy paste what I need, without having to configure anything.
When I get it to boot, I can access stuff via WinSCP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@kinget you said that you did not start your Pi for several months.
More information about your setup would be helpful, it might be that your setup is so old (based on jessie or stretch) that you cant simply copy and paste configs etc. without running in several errors and problems.
Better try to rescue the roms files, the highscores, the downloaded images, BIOS files and splashscreens.
Then copy those files on a new 4.7.19 image.

          @sirhenrythe5th

          It's a RPI 3B+ running Stretch
The MicroSD card is a SanDisk Ultra 64gb

The power supply is bought of ModMyPi and is a "GDJ-051025A"

I would like to save the following if possible, but Im not 100% sure how to do it:

          *The roms
          *Save states
          *All scrapes
          *BIOS
*Settings for my 8BitDo controller (I remember that i put some hours into that)

@kinget then i have good news: you can "recycle" all of your data you listed.
The only one that might make problems: your configs for the 8BitDos: input configs changed a lot since stretch.
But if so: i (and everyone else here) will help you!
I have got those awesome pads and i gurantee you: it wont last hours again! :)

              Thanks Henry!

              The big question is:
              What do I copy? files/folders/etc

                @kinget
                i would recommend these folders:

                /home/pi/RetroPie/roms
                /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS
                /home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_images
                /home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens

All your save-files and highscores are included in the "rom"-folders.

Optional: Arcade-samples and -artwork-files, if saved in a different location, and the "gamelist.xml".

All these files are independent of the used OS/Retropie-Version and worth backuping ;)
