Same on 4.6. and re-ripped the bin cue files.

I cant understand how exactly the same files in practically the same hardware can have such a vast difference - only real change has been the microSD card (from 8GB to 64GB).

@stumaster I remember having this issue where tracks wont play on a ps1 game back in the day when I burn it into cd. What I would do is just convert multiple tracks games into just one .bin file using cdmage. This solves my issues with the audio tracks and worth a try in your case.
        https://m.emuparadise.me/links-and-downloads/General_CD_Utils/CDmage_1.02.1_Beta_5/20

Another option is converting your cue and bin to compressed file format like chd, pbp, or m3u.

I think the .cue file is problematic - a proper cue/bin rip will have a .bin file for each track (data + audio):

FILE "WipEout 2097 (Europe) (Track 01).bin" BINARY
            TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
              INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "WipEout 2097 (Europe) (Track 02).bin" BINARY
            TRACK 02 AUDIO
              INDEX 00 00:00:00
              INDEX 01 00:02:00
FILE "WipEout 2097 (Europe) (Track 03).bin" BINARY
            TRACK 03 AUDIO
              INDEX 00 00:00:00
              INDEX 01 00:02:00
FILE "WipEout 2097 (Europe) (Track 04).bin" BINARY
            TRACK 04 AUDIO
              INDEX 00 00:00:00
              INDEX 01 00:02:00
FILE "WipEout 2097 (Europe) (Track 05).bin" BINARY
            TRACK 05 AUDIO
              INDEX 00 00:00:00
              INDEX 01 00:02:00
          etc...

With this .cue file and all the .bin files there's no issue loading the game's audio:

This is the first i have heard about seperate .bin for each track - every game i have ripped from disc has always been a single .bin .cue - i thought the whole idea of the .cue was to point to specific sectors (tracks)?

Wouldnt having seperate .bin files end up with an emulation station full of entries for each .bin?

@Genos98 converting the files to .chd works - thanks!- just curious how converting to .chd from exact same .bin/.cue is fine but using the same .bin cue on their own doesnt

Not sure how are you ripping your CDs, but the Redump project always uses this format - see http://redump.org/disc/1041/.

No, since .bin files are not displayed by EmulationStation by default - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Saturn/#why-dont-my-bin-or-iso-files-show-up.

I use imgburn - do you have any recommendations for ripping software? imgburn doesnt seem to have any options to seperate out each tracks into seperate .bins

@stumaster You can use the recommended setup from Redump.org - http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title=Disc_Dumping_Guide_(MPF).

@stumaster a propos recommendations: as far as PSX-Emulators are concerned lr-duckstation is the most recommended emulator in our days. Uses the same file-types, so you wont need to convert your isos again ;)

@stumaster converting to chd would also automatically look for and combine multiple tracks of a game as long as it's in the same folder. So lets say you have tekken with 12 tracks on it in the same folder, then they will all be combined and included in the chd file that will be created. That's the reason why converting fixed your issue.
