    Libretro vs Standalone emulator drivers

      Does anyone know the difference between audio drivers on a Rasp Pi between standalone and libretro based emulators?

      My i2s amp I’m using for my RetroPie build works really well with the libretro core emulators, but as soon as I try to load up ppsppp or drastic (standalone), the emulator lags like crazy and eventually crashes and the SD card becomes read only. I know it’s audio related, as muting the speakers brings them back to full speed. Does RetroPie use alsa for its audio driver or pulseaudio? I assume that the audio drivers are different for the X11 based emulators, which seem to launch differently. Do both of these use the ALSA thread audio drivers? Is there a way to change the backend audio drivers as well as the video drivers? I know you can change the video back ends for drastic, but just wanted to ask if this was possible.
