Mapping SFC30 keys won't work, please help.
-
Hi there,
I followed this Wiki/Tutorial to try and connect 2, 8Bitdo SFC30 controllers to my friend's Raspberry Pi 3 running Retropie.
Tutorial: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Setting-up-a-Bluetooth-controllerAtfter the latest (script)updates, the controllers will register and connect as a bluetooth device just fine BUT I can't for the life of me seem to get the mapping fixed correctly.
-The controller is started up in regular mode (MODE 1) by just holding the start button.
-When Emulstation is started up i have to Press a key to set up the controller it found. I do so, but only the arrow keys seem to work... none of the other keys work.
-If i enter the Retropie controller setup and go to the input config file i can not register anything when i try to change the mapping there. Is there a specific input config file i need to be using? As a followup question; is it easy to use 2, SFC30 controllers with Emulstation keeping them apart as Player 1 and Player 2 controls?
Thanks in advance for any help.

- Remove existing registration
- Power off (Hold Start)
- Power on with "Right Shoulder + Start" (This is mentioned in the tutorial - did you try it ?)
- Pair controller
- Make sure you choose the option to install udev rule - reboot.
- Reconfigure in Emulation Station.

Thanks for the info. I got it to work! Controller is booted into joypad mode, i enabled the udev rule and the mapping hack.
The thing is....the retropie hotkeys dont seem to work for the quick menu or exit.
Any idea how to fix this?
Couls this be because Start + Select also triggers an action on the 8bitdo controller itself? (namely, turning on/off) -
@nesspj If you post your controller config files on pastebin I'll take a look to see why you may have hotkey issues.
Also let me know which controller firmware you are running. -
I updated my firmware to: 2.68 and I couldn't get the thing to work properly. I rolled back to the 2.67 version and it all worked as before.
I didn't try starting the joypad in another mode other than select.
