    What's the legality of a rom that was once freeware then not?

      This is just a general topic question, but I wonder what's the legality of a rom that was made freely available by the rights holder then removed from their webpage? Blizzard at one stage shared the Lost Vikings on their official website as a free download of the SNES ROM. So now that's removed does that mean whoever downloaded the rom in theory cannot use it? Or they can use it themselves but not share it?

        @retropieuser555 I doubt they gave you the rights to sell or distribute that rom, so it probably didn't change : you can keep this rom for your personal usage.
