I want to pipe sound through the audio jack and not HDMI. When I connect the audio jack to my stereo there is not enough boost to play very loud. Does anyone have experience with this? Will this accomplish what I need?

In case you are wondering why, I want to stream Pandora without having to leave my TV turned on.

Any ideas? Is this an unusual concept?

You asked whether someone was using the DAC, maybe none of the active users in the forum are actually using it.
It says it's compatible with the PI - so hardware wise is ok. You should find a way to stream Pandora and make sure it works on the Pi, without the DAC first.

Correct. It is what I meant by unusual concept. =P

Streaming works just fine, but the decibels are so low and need a boost. Guess I will have to buy it and give it a shot.

@rasp_renegade did you use alsamixer and adjust the headphone output volume?

I followed these steps to install it ( http://cagewebdev.com/raspberry-pi-getting-audio-working/ ), but the sound still is only half the decibels. Do I need to start a program?

I got it! ALTAMIXER was set to like 20%. Thank you very much.
