      hi all

ive just went back to playing whdload amiga games on my pi3 and PC
im just wondering how do i bypass the protection screen on games.

its just some games i tried they load up and then get to a screen where they ask me to enter a code or word from the manual of the game.

anyone have this same issue thanks in advance

@moonston333 You have to look for the 'Unprotected' or 'cracked' version of those games. This being said, most allow you to enter any password as most are already unprotected...

@moonston333 strange, I haven't had any issues...I think I downloaded them from the internet archive.

@moonston333 I am away for the moment so I cannot verify, but in pretty sure the ones from the internet archive work fine.

@kiro Please don't put links to ROM sites, even if it's the archive.

@moonston333 Not sure what type of games you are playing, but in some cases you will need the manual (which most of the time can be found on sides with game databases for particular systems or eras of computer history, for the amiga Hall of Light comes to mind) as it is not only used as a copy protection but also contain additional footage for the game. One example would be the AD&D SSI Goldbox RPGs where extented descriptions for room/location/situations are to be found in print which go beyond the short information provided on screen and the Temple of Apshai titles would be another example for this.

And I am not sure of how many titles are similiar to Frontier (Elite II), but this game (uncracked version) continues even when the answer to the copy protections question was false, but with each right answer the time between the checks got longer and longer, with false answers they where shortened and then at some point/some time later the game (IIRIR) ends/stops and one have to guess at which previous save the "timeout" was triggered/how much you have to go back in your history to get a "regular" state of the game - If I remember it right I only had it triggered in my first play with my original amiga game in its time and that was because I had missunderstood the way the words/letters whatsoever where counted on the page, thereafter it was no problem anymore... sorry for the distraction, what I just wanted to say is for some games you may not know (if that information is not provided) if the protection was bypassed, your answer correct or not as the game may simply continue for some time just to lead you to some dead end.
