      I was curious if there was a way to turn off the yellow text prompts that pop-up in the lower left part of the screen. Text prompts like telling you a controller is connected or what save state was saved/loaded. If so, can someone point me in the right direction? Looked all over, but haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. I'm running Retropie on a Raspberry Pi 3B.

          @Ashpool i am not quit sure, but AFAIR the options to enable/disable onscreen notifications were introduced in Retroarch in times when buster was allready default for retropie.
          As far as we are talking about stretch (Pi3) the options may not be available.

            Does flipping this to false in your global retroarch.cfg do it?

            # Enable usage of OSD messages.
            video_font_enable = true

              Really? Retropie for RP3 is still on stretch? Sorry then!

                It's not, but who knows what version or RetroArch/RetroPie is @Hyruleslink running. The old style notification was present before Raspbian buster support was added to RetroPie, as @sirhenrythe5th said. If you're running an old RetroArch version, you'd get the simpler (text-only) notification style messages that can be disabled with the option that @Floob mentioned.

                  @Floob Nope, didn't seem to do anything. As soon as I saw OSD in your message, I thought for sure that was it. Any other ideas on what it might be?

                    Do you know what version of RetroArch you are running? Its usually in the bottom left somewhere when you are in the UI (Hotkey + X usually)

                    It might help to paste your retroarch.cfg file on pastebin or similar in case there is something obvious.
