Dualshock 4 Questions (that I haven't found in other posts)
-
Hi guys!
First of all, I apologize for being quite the noob. I only got my Pi yesterday, so I have tons to learn. As such, I'm not expecting any easy or detailed explanations, but hoping that someone can just send me in the right direction.
I'm having two issues with my bluetooth connected DS4. I was able to get the Bluetooth configuration to find the controller and performed an input setup, but these two issues linger:
- Even though I can set up shoulder buttons and trigger buttons in the controller input, once I enter an emulator (any emulator), they cease to function (both for in-game buttons and for Retropie hotkeys). So I seem unable to use any emulator that requires shoulder buttons (SNES, N64, etc.).
I have not installed any DS4 drivers, but also could not find any in the driver menu. I've heard there is a ds4dr file to try, but I'm too nooby to know where to find it or whether that's even a good idea =)
- The second problem is a bit trickier. My goal is to have my PS4 and Pi next to each other in the same cabinet, using the same controller. Though I am able to get the DS4 connected to the Pi, I’m running into a problem where after the initial setup, I can’t get the controller to connect again through BT the next time I play the system.
I’m guessing this is because the only way to turn on the controller so that it can be recognized by BT is to push the PS button, which automatically turns on the PS4 and registers the device to that.
Has anyone tried anything similar and found a workaround? It would be ideal if I could set up the Pi in some way to connect to my controller when I use the pairing feature (pressing PS button and share simultaneously for 3 seconds), because that action does not start the PS4.
Thanks for your help!

I am also having issues using a PS4 controller with Retropie.
- I am able to use my Dualshock 4 controller in all emulators except Reicast. I cannot get past the Set Date/Time Screen; I can set the date/time using the left analog controller, but am unable to save those values because I am unable to press the Select option on the screen. I am also unable to use the hotkeys to restart.
I attempted to following the directions/suggestions. No progress:

https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3120/problems-with-dreamcast-and-ps3-wired-controller/4I was able to get past the screen with a USB SNES controller.
- Similarly, I have been unable to get the controller working with Kodi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
