@BuZz that's why I'm very glad that he's doing it the proper way, if there's restrictions they're for a good reason, but in truth in law there's no real copyright for GPL or open source, all it would do is just piss off the retro pie creators and make them determined to find a way to remove the modified version from existence, but like I said he's going through the proper channels and doing it the right way that shouldn't be a problem but let's just wait patiently and get ready to enjoy an awesome distribution :)

@Devil78 Any word back on this?
-
@wmcclelion back on what?
-
@wmcclelion No sorry, i'm waiting @petRockBlog for a reply about this.
-
Can this image be booted as a live cd or does it require install?
-
It can be booted as a LiveCD and/or be Installed!

I am also quite interested in Retropie for x86. How is your approach regarding the selection of emulators? Lots of current emulators seem to be versions that are especially tweaked for ARM. For example the playstation emulator pcxse-rearmed. It compiles and runs fine also on x86 but there might be better alternative when targeting x86?
-
The emulators are compiled from source so they works correctly in the X86 Systems.
-
Where did you learn "making a distro for Linux?"
-
Any updates on the permission status? I mean all the Rpie team have to do is answer an email and say yes...
-
I'm still waiting for a reply! :(
-
Wouldn't it just be easier to drop the logo from top of the site?
-
Why does x86 have to be on a separate site at all? Wouldn't it be cool to have it all under one roof?
Questions from a biased x86-lover :) -
Maybe you should find another email address to send to, cause maybe it got stuck in their spam folder I mean it's been a while now you think they reply already if they cared maybe they don't care like most open source programs they don't care if she's long as you don't abuse their software
-
I mean I think you're being a bit excessive there is a retro pie build that uses attract mode as it's front-end in addition to emulation station and the author did not ask permission he just does it in good faith, his information is in the attract mode forums you could probably ask him for information on what he did in order to get permission or not

Ok i will change Distro Names from Retropiex86 to RetrOSGameS. I'm think a New Logo and Wallpaerprs Complete OS and Boot Screen.
This is just a draft...
-
@Devil78 i'm telling you you don't need to change anything email the guy who did the attract mode distro of retro pie I'm sure he'll tell you the same thing I'm telling you that you don't need to ask permission also if you're going to insist on changing the name and feel of it that is not a great name maybe RetroOS, RetroPie x86 Plus or something... or even RetroPie x86 Live (changing the name enough should be just enough)
-
You don't have to rename it - but that is your choice if you want to. The only point I made was using the logo as the main site logo - which made it look like it was an official RetroPie site (btw you may not get a reply from the logo rights holder - as he is busy).
I did some Ubuntu/Xubuntu Linux versions for the O2 Joggler - and did it without making it look like it was an official Xubuntu project - you could do the same - http://jwills.co.uk/projects/joggler-xubuntu/
@vbs regarding having it all under one roof - That was never mentioned by them initially, and it seems they want their own "project site". Which is fine, but they can provide their own support too :)
I'm not against the idea providing a bootable usb, but it's more work when a release comes out, and I would want it completely automated in the same way the Raspbian based RetroPie images are.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
