      Can anyone hep with some questions I have regarding Amiberry. I have installed from the pre-compiled binary after installing v4.8 of Retropie via the Rapsberry Pi Imager. This has installed v 5.4 of Amiberry.

      the ROMs that I am trying to play are zipped with lha format, they appear in my emullation staation under Amiga and when I select them they load and for the most part all is fine.

      My question is more specifically about Amiberry though. What is the Quickstart menu for, because if I select the Amiga 1200 from the drop down, set the configuration then load a game, if i press the blue bottom on my control pad it opens Amiberry but under quick start I always see "Amiga 500" selected. Does the zip determine which machine is emulated?

      Also what is the point on the configurations menu, I see a 500 option and 1200, plus if I click save it saves the Default Autoboot WHDLoad config, but what is the point in this?

      Finally the audio for the games does not sound right, skipping and choppy. If under sound I up the frame buffer size to 10 it is much improved but it tends to sound like the music is then time-stretched in places. Not sure why this is or what the best settings are. I am using the 3.5mm headphone jack btw.

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks!

        @spacebiscuit thanks for reporting. I wish you posted under the main thread but that's ok.

        Amiberry for Retropie has been tailored to made it easy for all users to enjoy their Amiga games. It should be an almost console-like experience. No need to fiddle with GUI or any options. That's my first advice: if everything works (as expected) then please don't touch anything ;-)

        Question #1: it's the hash of the .lha which will point Amiberry to the best settings for that particular game (stored in a XML file).

        Question #2: whenever you click on the Save button from the Configurations menu all settings will be saved to a .uae file (stored under the conf/ directory). Next time you run that same game the .uae will take precedence over any other settings. I do not recommend you do that unless you're absolutely sure what you're doing.

        Regarding your audio issue I'm afraid without further details about your exact setup no one will be able to assist. I can only point you to the FAQ and to that setting from amiberry.conf.

        Hope this helps.

          Hi - thanks for taking the time to explain a few of the basic principles.

          Point taken, I won't play with the settings any more now that I know the best settings are loaded from the hash. If I did in the recent past make a save to the config is there a way to restore to the default uae file so that my changes are not applied at load?

          Your reply said the next time I run that same game any changes saved to the uae will be used, is that for all games or only the game which I had loaded when I entered the menu and saved? I don't see any config per game when I open the uae file - just curious to know how this works.

          About the sound issue, which information do I need to supply. My hardware is: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2

          As mentioned I am plugging the 3.5mm stereo jack for my audio output. Amibery is under sound is selecting:

          SDL2: bcm2835 Headphones

          I checked the FAQ and settings but all looks correct, my "sound" settings from the amiberry.conf:

          default_sound_buffer=8192
          default_sound_pull=yes
          default_soundcard=0

          Is there anything else I can provide to help troubleshoot?

          Thanks again!

            @spacebiscuit anytime!

            If I understood your question properly just ensure there's no .uae present under Retropie $configs/amiga/amiberry/conf directory (you can delete these using the GUI>Configurations panel also). In there you got amiberry.conf which purpose is to set global options. Yet again I strongly advise anyone to not touch anything unless you're sure.

            Your reply said the next time I run that same game any changes saved to the uae will be used, is that for all games or only the game which I had loaded when I entered the menu and saved? I don't see any config per game when I open the uae file - just curious to know how this works.

            Only the game you've loaded. The saved .uae will be named after your .lha and it will be stored under Retropie $configs/amiga/amiberry/conf directory. Meaning one .uae per game.

            Settings look good. Which version of Amiberry and Retropie? Have you made any modification to the underlying OS which comes with Retropie? Do you have KMS enabled?

              My Retropie is v4.8 and Amiberry v5.4. It was only recently installed via Raspberry Pi Imager. Amiberry was installed via the pre-built binary.

              I tried enabling KMS - via raspi-config -> advanced options -> GL Driver

              I tried the fake and full drivers both would not boot into emulstation - I received a message about service already running? So I reset the to the legacy driver which now allows the emulstation to boot as before.

                @spacebiscuit please ensure you stick to the official image. As I'm unable to assist you further regarding your audio issue feel free to raise a ticket here. Perhaps more help can be obtained that way. Provide as much details and info about your setup as you can in the ticket. Thanks.
