I have my Pi 3 playing roms from an external hard drive. Does this affect the ability to scrape those roms? If so is there a way to fix that?

The build in scraper should scrape games from USB provided you can properly see them in your emulators, I do it all the time. It's the Sselph Scraper that won't (or at least I haven't figured out how to use it on the Pi from external.) scrap from external.

However there is a Windows version here:
        https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Scrape-your-games-with-your-PC-(EN)

This also generates a gamelist.xml file and is much faster than doing it through the built in scraper, though it seems to find less games than the one built into emulationstation. Hope this helps.

I tried this an it worked, but it did not add box art for any of the games. Do you know there is a way to fix that so it adds the box art?

@bkay it's in a folder called images in the same folder with the gamelist.xml when doing it on the PC, unless you specified for it to save elsewhere. you will need your transfer these to the pi.

On the Pi you want to put them in opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/ and either downloaded images or gamelists respectively. you may need to edit the image path in the gamelist.xml if you still can't see them.

It also depends on the console/games you are trying to scrape as some cannot be scraped with this method yet.

            hope this helps.
