Any way to update the yabasanshiro stand alone emulator?
-
I'm using the current version of yabasanshiro stand alone emulator which is 1.5 but I see there is a more recent Pi version available here which appears to be 2.12:
https://snapcraft.io/install/yabasanshiro/raspbian
Is there any way to update the RetroPie version to this more recent (although still two years old) version that what is currently available?
Sega Saturn seems to emulate fairly well with this core but the 1.5 version is still pretty buggy.

Where exactly does says is version 2.12 ? Latest (upstream stable) version seems to be 1.9.0 (from June 2022).
The Pi4 version is created from the upstream sources and last commit is from Jan 2022. If the Snapcraft build is from 3 years ago, it's probably older than what's available now in RetroPie.EDIT: I see there's a Pi4 + 1.9.0 branch in the upstream project's repository, maybe this a more recent version for the Pi4. Not sure why hasn't been added to the
pi4
branch though. -
@mitu Sorry, I should have explained better, I saw on the previous page a reference to 2.12:
https://snapcraft.io/yabasanshiro
But even getting a 1.9.0 would be an improvement over the 1.5 I currently have now. Is there any way for me to try to install that 1.9 version?

You can try changing the branch from which the RetroPie scriptmodule builds
yabasanshiro
fromrpi4
torpi4-1-9-0
here and then re-install from source. There's no guarantee it will work, but you can give it a try. -
@mitu I'm going to do that right now!
-
@mitu That worked! Going to look into what this new update can do now....
-
@mitu So my first initial tests shows that this version isn't any better than the 1.5 version. It doesn't fix the sound issue in House of the Dead, and games like High Velocity that crashed back to ES in the 1.5 version still behave the same in 1.9
Thank you for your help! Shame this doesn't seem to offer any improvements, at least not that I've found so far.

@TPR Hi i just tried it, too. But i had a strange outcome:
I don't know what that means, but the emulator is running (and quite well, from the few games I tried).HotD still has no sound, though. Maybe you can point me to other problematic games and I try those? I don't have High Velocity to try...
