@mitu The ROMs I am trying to use are:
Call of Duty - Black Ops (USA) (zipped file)
New Super Mario Bros. (zipped file)

@retropieuser555 I run the game from emulation station, and then it comes up with the grey box, I press any input on my controller and it goes to the runcommand menu.

@sleve_mcdichael Huh? I went to a website and it said nintendo DS. Or wait, nes isn't nintendo is it? (I literally face palmed right now). So,

            1. what does nes stand for?
            2. where do the nintendo ds games go?

Thankyou so much. This changes everything. But I would still like answers to the questions above. Cheers!

NES stands for Nintendo Entertainment System - released by Nintendo in the 80's. See more details here.

Nintendo DS is a portable console launched by the same company in the 2004, more advanced than the NES and with a different set of games. As usual Wikipedia has a lot of details about it.

DS games use the nds folder (details here), but your system (a Pi1) is not powerful enough to run those games. NES games should be fine though.

Yes, you're correct, the Retropie folder does not include an nds file. Alright, thankyou so much.

Say I wanted to get Need for Speed: Most Wanted - Black Edition from Playstation 2, which folder would that go into? Or would my Pi not run it?

@SlavicMystery PS2 don't run on any Raspberry Pi, only on an x86 PC.
