DAPHNE 1.0.13 issues on RasPi 3 Model B
-
Hello everyone,
I'm in the process of converting a generic arcade game cabinet to be a dedicated laserdisc emulation machine powered by a RasPi 3 Model B. Unfortunately, I'm running into some issues with DAPHNE on the RasPi that don't seem to exist on either of my existing Windows or OS X DAPHNE installations.
These problems occur regardless of whether or not RetroPie pulls down the DAPHNE binaries, builds from source, or I hand-build DAPHNE from the github repo.
For reference, the target system is a RasPi 3 Model B, gcc version 4.9.2 (Raspbian 4.9.2-10), running on Linux retropie 4.4.13-v7+ #894 SMP Mon Jun 13 13:13:27 BST 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux per
uname -ar
. All packages (including the base system) are up to date and there are no dependency issues that I'm aware of.From going through the Retropie-Setup wiki entry for DAPHNE, I did run across the DAPHNE Compatibility List spreadsheet on Google Docs and updated it with what I'm seeing. Below is mostly a repeat of that information in hopes that others can confirm or deny that they're having the same issues.
- badlands: Getting a black screen and what look to be writes to invalid addresses in the logfile. Log at http://pastebin.com/VLMhxyH6
- badlandp: Getting a black screen and what look to be writes to invalid addresses in the logfile. Log at http://pastebin.com/yHKJ5MNW
- bega: Getting a black screen and write-to-ROM error. Log at http://pastebin.com/WuHtkmD9
- begar1: Getting a black screen and write-to-ROM error. Log at http://pastebin.com/9WaTLm9h
- interstellar: Can't get InterStellar to start when using vldp; DAPHNE complains about not being able to find interstellar.m2v, which is in exactly the location that the framefile points to. Runs with noldp, however, and the same framefile works fine on OS X and Windows. Log at http://pastebin.com/hjkphtfa
- roadblaster: Getting a black screen and write-to-ROM error. Log at http://pastebin.com/X5HhH45s
Note that this does not include games that DAPHNE reports as having known issues - these are just problems that I'm experiencing on the RasPi that do not occur on the other platforms I've tested with.
As a side note, I am aware of Hypseus (a modernised fork of DAPHNE) and would love to test it, but it's failing to build for me in the same RasPi environment described above. I've reported the build issues to the maintainer of the project; we'll see what happens.
Right now I have no clear idea as to what might be causing these problems, so would certainly appreciate any insight anyone may have into them. They do seem to be platform-specific from what I can tell; if someone on a RasPi 2 could see if they can replicate the issues it would be extremely helpful as I no longer have one to test with.

Shame you haven't had any responses to this or the post you made on the other fork too.
Been trying to get badlands working too until ibsaw this.
