linapple key mappings

Is there a way to map custom keys for linapple? I have ipac2 setup and I have a couple Apple][ caps (e.g. Hard Hat Mac) and I would like to not have to connect the keyboard if possible. Since I have a 19 button settup (8 buttons and play selection for each player and plus a coin button), I would like to remap the keys used by the game to buttons. since the ipac acts like keyboard, it should be that simple. However, how/where can I change key mapping per Apple][ game or for linapple only?
