kodi n retropie

I have a fresh copy of Retropie on my Raspberry Pi 4. and Kodi also. i have set Kodi to boot first.
So, how do i get the new version of Kodi -
@raspberry79 not sure you can. It's not like updating it using a regular Kodi box. I've been wanting to update from the "Leia" version of Kodi for years now. I think when it's on retropie a newer version of kodi needs to be programmed into it so to speak which is beyond me. Hope I'm wrong!

Without be sure, a new version of Kodi package, coming always with a new version of Pi Os Lite that RetroPie is based. The next version of RetroPie (Bullseye) will have Kodi 19.

I have retropie going and I have kodi installed.
Right now Im in kodi, it is now 18.7 so how I update kodi to the newest version -
