How do I make RetroPie recognize .WAD files in the PCEngine folder as DOS/PC games?
-
@x215useracc The wad files for doom do not go in the pcengine folder (Thats an old console, also known as turbo graphix).
Place them in the home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom folder.
EDIT: You should also find a doom.sh file in the ports folder. This is the file needed for emulation station to see the game.PC games, run through a dos emulator go in the home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc folder.

@LeatherWing thank you, I hope this works. I figured that the FreeDOOM WADs would go into the Ports folder, as in RetroPie, the Ports image looks like the DOOM logo. Thank you for telling me I need to add them into a DOOM folder in the Ports folder.
-
@LeatherWing there is no doom.sh file in my ports folder, only a desktop.sh file because I installed the desktop environment.
-
@x215useracc the .sh file tells what wad file to load. I have one doom.sh, Freedoom - Phase I.sh, and Freedoom - Phase II.sh. The only difference is what wad file the doom engine loads when it boots.
Here's the contents of doom.sh:
#!/bin/bash "/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh" 0 _PORT_ "doom" "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/doom1.wad"
but the file should be there if it installed the port of doom. Did install it through retropie_setup?

@LeatherWing The DOOM WAD was not installed through RetroPie setup, if that's what you mean. Also, thank you for telling me the contents of the doom.sh file, that will help quite a bit with resolving this issue :)
-
@LeatherWing Sadly, the DOOM WADs do not launch, and they just show the desktop environment for a few seconds then take me back to the Ports menu in RetroPie, but they at least show up as a option now.
-
@x215useracc have you installed a Doom engine (either lr-prboom or lzdoom) from the "optional packages" section in RetroPie-Setup?
FreeDOOM 1 and 2 should come pre-installed once you do that.
-
@sleve_mcdichael I have not tried that, I will attempt to do that now.
-
@sleve_mcdichael well, it works now.
