Downloaded the new 4.0 build on my pi3 and my xbox 360 controller works fine. I've paired a ps4 controller to the pi via bluetooth and in the gamepad configuration screen it detects 2 controllers but I can't get the ps4 controller to work.

Any ideas?

You probably need to use https://github.com/chrippa/ds4drv
