I am trying to connect a USB keyboard to my pi but it seems as though it isn't being recognized. I have a bluetooth controller and need the keyboard to connect it. I do not have the cables necessary to physically plug it in. I cannot make it past the initial setup menu.

USB-Device-2-BT adapters are AFAIK DIY only, so buyable BT adapters (again AFAIK/IIRC) are only to connect BT devices to the Host and USB Keyboards are ... well, wired with an USB Plug... Maybe you can be more precise in your "I have/I want to achieve"? Answering/providing the basics may help: maybe you have a Pi Board without USB ports (then why do you mentioning the BT adapter, which most propably is a USB Device on its own)?
But unless you naming it, for ?most?some? people (at least for me) your post simply does not rhyme. -

How did you check that ? If you press F4 at the starting screen (the input configuration) are you taken to the command prompt ? What if you plug the keyboard after the boot/start is completed ?
Please provide more info about your setup, as @Ashpool mentioned.

@Ashpool I have a usb keyboard and a Bluetooth controller. I need to get past the start screen to connect my Bluetooth controller. The only thing I have to do that with would be my usb keyboard however retropi is not recognizing it

@mitu I tried f4 and that did nothing. I will try plugging it in after booting now. I am running a raspberry pi 4b with a Corsair k55 keyboard and an Xbox one controller

You haven't provided the rest of the info asked - are you using an official power supply ?
The keyboard you have - being a RGB type of kb - is possible to draw more power than a regular USB keyboard. Are you connecting the keyboard to the USB3 ports or the USB2 ports ?
Leaving the keyboard aside, you can pair the controller by connecting via SSH to your Pi and starting RetroPie-Setup from a SSH session. -
@mitu Apologies, I am very new to this. I am using an official power supply and am plugging it into the USB 3.0 ports. I will be honest, I would not know where to begin in connecting via SSH

Maybe the documentation page I pointed at earlier ? If that's something that you're not familiar/confortable, maybe try a different keyboard ?
