Has your update been without errors ?
Check if you have the $HOME/.config/retroarch/cores folder and if it contains the vice_x64_libretro.info file. The file teaches RetroArch if the core supports save states.

@mitu I've just removed everything C-64 from my build. And re-installed from source but it did not populate /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/cores with the .info files. I can see all the other folders were created with the current time stamp:
            /opt/retropie/configs/c64
            /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-vice

but nothing in the cores folder. Any ideas?

EDIT: I also re-installed Retroarch and still none of the .info files were populated.

Can you post the installation log ?

@mitu What is the best way to attach the .gz log file? The text is way too big to post here.

@TPR Use pastebin.com and provide the link in the topic.

@mitu Apparently it's way too big for Pastebin too

You have exceeded the maximum size of 512 kilobytes per Paste.

Just the RetroArch's update log shouldn't be that large. Post only that part of the log and make sure it's the latest update for RetroArch you've run.

For those who need it, here was the solution.

“ So the way I fixed that is that I just reverted back to my old version of lr-vice and then it worked just fine.”

                        Pi Model: Pi 5
Power Supply: Official Pi 5 Power Supply
                        RetroPie Version: 4.8.6
Built From: retropie_setup.sh script on Raspbian official full x64 img
                        Devices: N64 Controller (2)
                        Help needed!

@AwesomeKingClem No, the fix was removing the old (full) retroarch.cfg used for the c64 system and restoring the RetroPie default retroarch.cfg.

@mitu I was talking about lr-vice. I may be a bit confused, but I think you may be talking about lr-gambatte. I apologize for any confusion that I may have caused.

                                The cause is the same.

@AwesomeKingClem don't remove your posts, makes the replies you got seem out of place and breaks the topics. That's not how a forum works.
