Recently updated from the RC version of 4 to the latest from a few days ago and have a weird problem.

I 360 pad just seems to stop working, OR Rpi locks up as i cant skim through the XMB.

I tried uninstalling/ reinstalling the driver for the pad with same problem.

I also tried installing from source emulation station with same problem.

I can putty in still so some parts are still working and seg 1 on the pad lights so its being detected properly on boot.

Sometimes it takes 3 - 4 reboots to get the machine in a useable state.

Any ideas? is it a bug ?

I reflashed my backup image and all is ok now.

@a7mag3ddon use 4.0 with xpad driver (from packages / drivers). Disable xboxdrv

Oh ok I'll give it a try and see if that works but I was already on the 4.0 RC version.

Does the Xbox drv no longer work on the release 4.0.1 ? Will I have to config all my gamepad settings within each emu?

The updated xpad driver was added just before 4.0 final.

You will need to reconfigure the controller on EmulationStation. The button mapping may be the same for other manual configss for other emulators.

I actually had the same problem and resolved it by doing the exact opposite. I installed the xboxdrv and uninstalled the xpad driver. When I had the xpad driver installed Kodi did not properly accept the input. It would constantly go to the left in the menu when I had the controller connected but with the xboxdrv installed instead it works like a charm. This is with a wired controller though - the battery for my wireless controller has died a horrible death so I haven't been able to test with that yet.

Will this issue be fixed in later released? i updated to latest 4 and installed xpad but its pretty rubbish compared to the other driver, I also had issues with XMB scroll, weird SDL errors.

After restoring a backed up image and updating then going back to the backup a few times ive given up on this latest release and gone back to 4 RC2 which is fine for me.

                Thanks.

I too have this issue with both drivers. The Xpad driver seemed to work the best as far as being able to wake up from a sleep or suspend mode whereas the xboxdrv wouldn't work very well if at all doing this previously.

I have constant and random lock ups or more or less the controller just stops working period and I have to reboot the system to get back to where I was. This can happen within a game or just out in Emulationstation and going from game to game or using the bumpers to skip pages.

Here was the thing, the Xpad seemed to work flawlessly on 4.0 without any updates. But I'm one to keep my Pi3 and RetroPie totally up to date so I have updated daily and it's now showing as 4.0.1 and this was when I had to switch back to the xboxdrv from the Xpad driver. Again though neither are fully functional and stable by any means at least not for me and now on 4.0.1.
