Super weird image on videos via VLC

Power Supply used: Powersupply that I bought with a Rpi case, 5.1V, 3A
RetroPie Version Used: Buster 4.8
Built From: download from retropie website
USB Devices connected: USB keyboardI have a fresh install of RetroPie, latest version, on a RPi 4 B, and running VLC gives correct audio, but a very weird image (see picture 1). If I take a screenshot, it's alright (see picture 2). I have no clue what the problem might be, I have never seen this before or any Raspberry Pi. I have never tinkered with VLC either, so I don't know where to start. What kind of troubleshooting can I do?
I have it running via composite out, but I've tried it with HDMI as well, and it's the same.

My guess is that the VLC version included is the one from Debian and not from the RPT repositories (which is patched to handle RPI's VPU).
Try using
omxplayer
or installingkodi
to view videos, they should take advantage of the HW video acceleration present in the RPI's GPU. -

omxplayer worked with the video! Thank you. I tried uninstalling VLC and installing again, same result. Thanks for the help!
