      I have tried editing es_systems.cfg and I have put it in multiple directories like /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation and /etc/emulationstation but the systems still display in alphabetical order. I am not very experienced on doing anything with the command line but I was able to copy my modified CFG onto the directory in /etc, but emulation station will not display it in the order I put them.

        I fixed the issue, I just had to turn off “sort custom collections and systems” in the game collection settings.
