4.0 version locks up config screens if you are already in ssh

I submitted this problem earlier today, but have done a little more troubleshooting and I believe I've isolated the problem.
On the new 4.0 image (got it yesterday from git), on rasp3.
If you already have an ssh session open, and you go into one of the config screens in emulation station (or even quit out of the emulation stattion), the config screen won't received any keystrokes - so it's locked up. If you don't have an ssh session open, it works normally.
The only way to close the main screen is to reboot the device.
