Changing the order of emulators?
-
If it's possible, could the order of emulators have the option of being ordered differently? For instance, I have modified mine to they go in order or date released and kept the systems from the same manufacture together. If anyone has a large collection of systems, the default alphabetical order can be a bit out of place IMO.
My current order shows systems in this order (I used short hand where I could) :
Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari 800, Lynx, Intelivision, Game Boy, GBC, GBA, NES, Family Computer Disk System, SNES, N64, SG-1000, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive, 32X, Game Gear, TG16, TGCD, MS OS, Ports, Scumm, Info-com, and finally RetroPie.
This just makes sence to me as if I want to play Nintendo games, I don't need to scroll through multiple other systems to go from the NES to the SNES. It's just one hop away.
Even if it's just something where it's a re-ordered config file that needs to be requested by the user in the setup script, I think it would be nice.
With the update to 4, I realized I had to re-edit the config file, hence the post here. -
You can manually look after your
es_systems.cfg
by copying it to/opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation
- it will not be overwritten, but you will need to keep it in sync etc. -

/etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
will be overwritten if changing the order. If you copy it to/opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
it will override the one in/etc/emulationtation
and never be overwritten (but you will have to keep it up to date). -
