      I'd like to play Tetris as if on an original mono Wonderswan, with patterned greyscale blocks. But there don't seem to be any hardware options in the emulator and the only CFG setting I can find that seems to be relevant is

      wswan_mono_palette = "wonderswan"

      which unfortunately does nothing. (Setting it to "greyscale" also does nothing.)

      Raspberry Pi 3b and 8GB Raspberry Pi 4, both running Retropie 4.7.1 installed from scratch using Raspberry Pi Imager, with wired keyboard, wireless mouse and double arcade joystick attached.

        I'm guessing that's a no, then. But never fear - @Folly to the rescue again! If you want to enjoy the mono Tetris, install the MESS driver for the original WonderSwan from his script, pop the BIOS file in your BIOS folder, set rotation to

        mame_rotation_mode = "tate-ror"

        in the .OPT file, select Alternate Renderer and 960x720 resolution in the Retroarch options menu, remap the controls in the Tab menu and away you go!

        Raspberry Pi 3b and 8GB Raspberry Pi 4, both running Retropie 4.7.1 installed from scratch using Raspberry Pi Imager, with wired keyboard, wireless mouse and double arcade joystick attached.

          I've never tried the wonderswan so far and I guess, as you are an old poster here, you are aware of the docs for the wonderswan and that there are 2 rom folders for it: one for the WonderSwan Color and one for the WonderSwan.
          I've always assumed that the runcommand for lr-beetle-wswan would incorporate all the essentials to tell the emulator in which modus (colour vs. black/white|grayscale it should start and no further user action would be needed (the wonderswan is on my emulators I want to try out as soon as I have the time and before I die - list, so that's why I am curious now).

          From your posts, you only tried it via MameMess/Mess and not with the default retropie emulator? Any reasons for that (besides nonmame listing it to be matured in mame/mess)?

            Nope, that's not what I said. Obviously I tried lr-beetle-wswan first. I mean, it's right there in the thread title...

              @JimmyFromTheBay Oops, sorry - somehow I messed that one up during writing my post :/ So it is not an automated/different runcommand-switch for different romfolder thing - so time to try it out whence I am back from my vacation & hopefully someone provided a real answer till then.

                @Ashpool Nope, I already have my WS ROMs separated into colour and mono folders and as separate systems in ES_SYSTEMS.CFG.
