Playstation multiple bin files
-
Has anyone been able to get Playstation to work with multiple .bin files with RetroPie 4.x. It's not a multi-disc game but just one game with multiple .bin files. There is one cue file with multiple .bins. I believe they are CDDA audio tracks for the sound effects in game. I've tried dropping them directly in the psx folder but when I run it I get a blank screen, I've tried creating a single image (one cue and one bin) using Daemon Tools and Imgburn as per a suggestion on a Playstation forum but the same thing. I also tried converting the cue/bin to .pbp with psx2psp and still no luck. Anyone successfully been able to get a game with multiple .bin files running on Playstation?

If they are audio tracks, try searching google for "Just for those games with CDDA tracks"
Here is a video where I did that:

Thanks Floob, that's a great video. I did some testing over the weekend. I must have a bad image. I saw a reply from Dank on the Pro Pinball series on PSX. The video looked decent he posted so I gave it a try but I couldn't get it to work.
I tried a few other images too see what would happen and they worked fine. I tried it 3 ways. One way with the .bin file and .cue files loose in the folder and it worked fine. I then tried using Daemon Tools, mounted the cue file and created an image with ImgBurn (single cue/bin file) and that worked fine too. Lastly I tried converting and the bin/cue to .pbp with psx2psp and that worked fine also.
I like the idea of just one bin/cue file. The extra step of converting to .pbp didn't seem to add/change anything that I could tell. I was messing around a bit with Lemmings, Worms and True Pinball which are all multi-bin images and worked fine.

I used the DAEMON Tools Lite with PowerISO to make the singular BIN/CUE pair and converted to PBP. The main benefit to the PBP files are the high compression. Some of my games I was able to save over 50% space from the compression. Others are much less. Average compression saved me around 33% storage space.

@Riverstorm you can download all the games in pbp form. The compression alone is worth them being in the .pbp format. Saves a lot of space.
