@backstander the 2 sequels where crap... The original is still great! Got a copy on vhs, dvd, SE dvd and blu ray. Vertigo ( comicbook publisher) is making a Lost Boys comic
-
@lilbud
Those where all great movies that I remember watching when I was a kid. Others I remember enjoying as a kid where The Goonies, The 3 Amigos, The Neverending Story, Beetlejuice, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, the 2 Bill & Ted movies, Uncle Buck, Airplane!, The Karate Kid and some of my friends didn't agree but I kind of likes the 2nd Highlander movie better.If you haven't already, you should watch the original Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness movies...then maybe watch the TV show Ash vs Evil Dead.
I think those would make a great splashscreen!Also The Secret of NIMH which was a dark cartoon but had some great visuals!

Don't forget 'Within the Woods' that started it all.

@mediamogul
Oh yeah, how could I have forgotten Within the Woods!
I enjoy a movie with Bruce Campbell in it! Even if it's a really bad B-movie lol! -
Also, how awesome was it to see Ellen Sandweiss make her return as Cheryl a few weeks back? Great season so far!
-
@lilbud
Blade Runner is a "must-watch". But Neverending Story... I don't like it...I don't know if you are looking for movies from the 80's only, but here's a short list that I like:
- Total Recall
- 2001: a Space Odyssey
- 12 Monkeys
- A Clockwork Orange
-
@meleu
I agree those are good movies!But Neverending Story... I don't like it...
I saw that as a kid and loved it but I did watch it about 5-6 years ago and it hasn't aged well
Total Recall
I bet you're talking about the original 1990 version even though the 2012 reboot wasn't that bad.
2001: a Space Odyssey
Is a great story but has some excruciatingly slow scenes but worth a watch non-the-less. Also A Clockwork Orange was directed by the same director!
12 Monkeys
This is a great story as well. Really makes you think if you can follow it lol
I might also add:
- Fight Club
- Interview with the Vampire
- Butterfly Effect
- Donnie Darko
Hopefully you don't come down with depression after watching all these movies lol

@lilbud great work! They look realy good

Here's something I made as a proof of concept, let me know what you guys think :) I did this in Paint. The biggest flaw here is the color around the letters (blue and purple-ish), because the original lettering of the Neo Geo logo only has white and shades of grey. The font is bold Times New Roman, I used a size of 40pt.

@felleg did you see the Rookervik's video splashscreen with a very similar image?
-
@meleu No, in fact, I haven't! I downloaded the extra-splashcreens in bulk from the RetroPIe OS, and I couldn't see it in there. Can you please point me to it? For some reason, I'm having difficulty browsing this forum.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it! :) I added it to my folder. I think it's nice to have a video and a screen version. Just wondering, though, how does the selection process work for these screens? Why wasn't this video uploaded when I downloaded splashscreens from RetroPie?
-
@felleg You have to submit a Pull Request to the splashscreen repository
-
@lilbud Gotcha! I'm not a github expert, but I tried to create the file in the repository. We'll see what happens. If you're able to create a better version of the image, that would be fine by me as well! :)
-
@felleg yes rookerviks neo geo video splashscreen is awesome.

I used to love that show. I was actually playing the NES game two nights ago. Not terribly fun when played with the computer, but I bet it would be a trip to work into a retro gaming night with friends.
