How to add mods for doom1 using gzdoom in retropie
-
Hey!
So I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to load doom1 mods.
I am using gzdoom on retropie on Ubuntu installed on my laptop.I got other mods to work perfectly fine for heretic and hexen by changing the gzdoom.ini file found in home/.config/gzdoom/ and by adding my mods path under [heretic.Autoload].
But as I try this method for doom it doesn't seem to work. I tried putting it under doom.id.doom1.autoload and nothing. When using gzdoom on its own without retropie this method works.
I saw something about loading the mod through the emulators.cfg file but I can't seem to find exactly how to use this file can someone please help me out? My emulators.cfg looks like this:
gzdoom = "DOOMWADDIR=/home/me/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom /opt/retropie/ports/gzdoom/gzdoom -iwad %ROM% -fullscreen" default = "gzdoom" gzdoom-addon = "DOOMWADDIR=/home/me/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom /opt/retropie/ports/gzdoom/gzdoom -iwad %ROM% -fullscreen -file /home/me/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/addon/*"
Thank you for any help!

@Joseph if you're trying to do this in RetroPie/ES, then DAZI is your best bet.
Although being you have a laptop with a desktop environment (assuming), why not just put ZDL on there, pretty easy to compile if needed.Edit: make sure you're not using actual doom1.wad as this is the shareware version which does Not support loading mods.

@RapidEdwin08
Thank you so much for the help! Either of those options will probably work for me.Also that makes sense now why the doom1.wad wasn't working properly but the Doom.wad I have from buying doom on steam works.
Thank you.
