@sugarfree Thanks a lot!
And thanks for the build. It works for me, and I'm not sure I could even do it the manual way, so you're a life saver -

Have the links been deleted?
-
@matchaman I deleted them to make space on the drive to upload the newer ones, but I have issues with disconnections when I am trying to upload the newer ones. I reverted them for now, and I will try again in the next few days. Sorry.
Update: New images have been uploaded.
-
@sugarfree thanks for updating your images
FYI when we click the link we get this

@ExarKunIv Thanks! I forgot to give permissions to everyone who has the link. Fixed.

@sugarfree
Not sure what I’m doing wrong on the full version
I grabbed it, removed the extra extension to show an image file, burned to formatted card
And I’m only getting the red/white box saying trying to boot but nothing happens
I tried to Redo it , same thingThe lite was fine
I’d like to try the full
I’ve tried multi cards as well they are doing the fake thingIdeas?
Thanks -

removed the extra extension to show an image file,
You...didn't just rename it, did you? You have to unpack the
.xz
archive (or use an imager like Balena that can do it for you). -

ThanksI have compressed the image using the .XZ compression algorithm. You don't have to uncompress the file, just write the image.xz with the free Pi Imager tool.
By the way, removing the .xz extension is not the right way to handle the file, as it can corrupt the image.

@sugarfree ok thank you so much, yes that's what I'm doing wrong Thanks looking forward to trying this one

Would somebody please provide us some new links to Basic and Plus image ??
I'm also kinda sck at burning images and stuff and i really want something simple to work on haha! -
I also don't have access to download it. Google said the file not available. Did it get deleted?
-
@xander_eight yes its gone, for now im sure he will get it up again.
-
@ExarKunIv alright thanks
-
I'm also looking for the Pi5 image. Would be happy to help host it when it's available.
-
@Lanzer i still have both of them. i will look into where i can link them to so you can get them.
-
@sugarfree Both links are not working, saying "Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist.
Make sure that you have the correct URL and that the file exists."
Any other way to download em? Thanks in advance!

Here are working links to the 2 images that @sugarfree has made. I have not touched them in anyway so you will have to update them if you want the latest
- list itemBasic Image (RetroPie v 4.8.9 - commit: 69cd744 / Feb 20, 2025) . It has only the core, main, usbromservice, and xpad driver packages installed,
similar to an official RetroPie image. The size of the zipped image is 1.1Gb and 16Gb unzipped.

@mitu is it ok to have links to a certain archive site to host these images. or is it preferred to stay away from them

I'd rather keep important information on the archive site and not RetroPie images, but that's just my opinion. It pains me to see how some users abuse it just to store their personal files, diregarding the site's original mission and scope.

@mitu thanks you for your insight. i have found some old cartoons there that i have never been able to find else where so im very glad to have them doing what they are doing
I will just host these on google
