So what are the benefits of Vulkan?

Just curious of how much difference I should or shouldn't be seeing using vulkan versus opengl. For example, on Naomi2 games I see it works quite well. But other higher end consoles like PSP, PS2, Gamecube, etc, I'll switch back and forth between the video outputs and I'm not seeing that much, if any, of a difference.
So I'm just wondering if I SHOULD be seeing a difference using vulkan or do I have something installed wrong?
