Skyscraper stuck on version 3.7.7 for Raspberry pi 5. [solved]

Hi everyone

I'm experiencing the following error when trying to use Skyscraper with my Pi5:

The version of Skyscraper you have installed is incompatible with options used by this script. Please update Skyscraper to the latest version to continue

When I update it defaults to 3.7.7. I see the latest version is 3.9.

Here are my specs

-Raspberry Pi 5 8GB
-Coolwell For Raspberry Pi 5 Power Supply 27W USB-C PD Power Supply Output 5.1V/5A, 9V/3A, 12V/2.25A, 15V/1.8A ETL Listed-GaN PD 5A 27W with Switch ON/OFF
-SD Image made from Retropie website (Retropie 4.8)*

So far I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, then updating it to no avail.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Update your RetroPie-Setup script and then re-install/update Skyscraper.

Our 4.8 image is not compatible with the Pi5 - what image did you specifically use for installation ?

Should I then abandon the Pi5 and get a Pi4 instead?

Not yet.

When I update it defaults to 3.7.7. I see the latest version is 3.9.

Not sure what version of RetroPie-Setup you're on, but the latest version of RetroPie-Setup will install the 3.14 version of Skyscraper (latest, at this time). So, make sure you're fully updated before attempting the installation/update again.

@mitu I've updated to the latest version of RetroPie-Setup and it says (v(Giyt)) rather than 3.14

There must be a bug in the setup script?

Which verson of RetroPie - exactly - do you have ? Can you post the git hash which is shown at the start-up screen ?

This looks like the last commit, so your repository seems up-to-date. Can you run the installation for Skyscraper and then post the lastest log file from $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/logs on pastebin.com ?

The log shows a succesful installation of Skyscraper at version 3.14.
Seems to me that you have the latest version - do you still get get the initial error you reported (The version of Skyscraper you have installed is incompatible with options used by this script. Please update Skyscraper to the latest version to continue) ?

I can't reproduce this error with the latest RetroPie-Setup. Does the 3.14 shows up in the Skyscraper scraping interface when you start it ?

What is the output of the the following command shows:

cd $HOME/RetroPie-Setup
sudo ./retropie_packages.sh skyscraper _check_ver

Note: _get_ver is the one that will actually report a version number. _check_ver will only show the error (or not.)

Which is puzzling since this is actually the part that prints the error you're getting (The version of Skyscraper you have installed is incompatible with options used by this script. Please update Skyscraper to the latest version to continue).

How exactly are you starting/accessing the scraping menu ?

@mitu I'm accessing the scraping menu via RetroPie Setup via SSH from my PC.
