Suggestions for ports #4
-
@Nash you are not wrong with that thinking as for the most part I agree.
With ports of PC games it's hit or miss. It really depends on if there are any bad issues or glitches on it. So we try to get with the lastest version.
But for some of them having a specific version is better. Since the lastest might break it. Which I have come across.

@ExarKunIv Have you tried UT2004 on Pi5? I haven't been able to start it yet. Even UT3 is easier, I started it on Pi5 bookworm lite from Retropie menu (but unplayable at 3fps).
I accidentally success with Team Fortress 2 too (5-10 fps). Portal is playable at 15-20fps.

@ExarKunIv I made a mistake, this version of UT doesn't run on Pi5. It was the Gog Game of the Year Edition through Wine.
And for Pi4, after installation I have to rename in emulators.cfg "/opt/retropie/ports/ut/SystemARM64/ut-bin" to /opt/retropie/ports/ut/System/ut-bin"

Cuphead

Shovel Knight

@duglor not sure what the point of your posts.
-
Please don't just post names of games you want to see as a port. That's it how it works
If you find something about someone making a version of the game on Linux natively. then post a link to it
Otherwise please don't clutter the post.
Thank you

@duglor Shovel Knight just works with Box64 btw, so have a read and compile that and give it a go.
Cuphead, will most likely be too intensive to run but could again try with Box64

@ecto said in Suggestions for ports #4:
sstse: I can't get this one to run. It starts and I have a menu, but as soon as I start a new game it crashes to a black screen. Hmmm.
i can confirm the same thing. definitely something on the engine end. since SSTFE works just fine
im going to open a issue and see what we can figure out on the SeriousSam github
