Can't seem to get mame2000 sample sounds to work
-
Hello all!
I am running: RETROPIE > retropie-buster-4.8-rpi4_400.img.gz
I am running: MAME > MAME 0.37b5 emulatorI am having a bit of trouble trying to find the samples folder in mame2000 because it does not exist in the ~$ RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro folder
I did although found it in the ~$ RetroPie/BIOS/mame2000/samples but when I put them in there they are not recognized for some reason. I even made a directory in ~$ RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/samples but this didn't work either. Please help... cuz Galaga sucks without the ship explosion sound... lol
Thank you

@thirdeyedynamo The real question here is why are you using something as outdated, buggy, and poorly documented as mame2000 on a pi4.
I'd recommend reading https://docs.libretro.com/guides/arcade-getting-started/ -
@barbudreadmon Because that is the only emulator I could get my roms working after I recompiled my roms using CLR-MamePro. Ill try again...

It seems there is something you don't understand about clrmamepro : it rebuilds/verifies romsets for a target emulator using a dat file for that target emulator. If you end up with romsets that are exclusively compatible with mame2000, then it means you used a mame2000 dat file.
Also, it's generally easier to directly acquire romsets for your target emulator instead of rebuilding them. Clrmamepro won't create roms out of nothingness, you still need the actual roms as materials. The main utility of clrmamepro is to verify/reorganize.
