This only effects certain files but when I click on it, it goes to a black screen and then back to the emulation station file list. Any way to fix this?

Alternatively, I can recommend switching it off and back on again.

I encountered a few times this as well.
Sometimes you can fix it by changing the default emulator for the console you are running the rom or only the emulator for the specific rom itself, by pressing either any button when prompted by the white window, when the rom tries to load, or the select button in joystick, at least in PS3 dual shock.

If you run out of emulators for the console you are loading the rom then there is a chance the rom may be defective and acquiring a good one may help also.

If you run out of roms and emulators, there must be something so technically advanced conflict that is beyond my poor brain's abilities.

            Hope it helps.

Eh? Nothing gives and nothing to fix here. When this happens it just means either (most likely) an incompatible file, or a corrupt file. So the fix would be first to try another emulator, or to get a working file.

Thank You! Getting a new file worked!
