Amiga emulator mouse pointer imprecise
-
Hi again,
Is there a way to change some settings in order to make the mouse pointer more precise?
I mean, yesterday I tried to play Heart of China and simply could not press a button because whenever I tried to put my mouse pointer on it, it simply went "too far down/up/left/right"...
I can´t explain it better... It "jumped" a few pixels at a time and was not very precise...Thank you and sorry my bad english...

Which Amiga emulator are you using? The speed of both can be set in the emulator's GUI. It sounds like you're probably using UAE4ALL2, as the mouse is especially fast there. If this is the case, you can set the mouse speed under the sixth tab from the left named 'Control'. I set the mouse speed to .25 and it's much more manageable.

Can't say for sure which emulator I´m using... It is the first one from the two item list :)
I will check that later, then, thank you. Also, I changed the aspect ration on general options and still I get a "squared" picture... Is it normal?

The Amiga and most of the systems emulated in RetroPie were designed in a time before 16x9 displays, so if I'm understanding your query correctly, a 4x3 "squared" picture is "normal" in the sense that it is accurate.

Thank you for your reply, but, I'm using an old TV. I use an HDMI2SCART adapter because, obviously, my TV does not support HDMI. Even so, what you said remains valid?

It should yes, but it should also just fill the screen in your situation. Was your previous comment suggesting that it only fills a small portion of the screen?

Yes, it "fills" all 4 borders black.
Oh, and by setting the mouse speed to .25 seemed to work. Now, I can press anywhere I want.Thank you!

I have the same issue - I first noticed it in Hatari, the ST emulator, then on the Amiga emulator. I added a section to my Hatari setup guide specifically mentioning it.
I experimented with a wireless Logitech mouse, a wireless Microsoft mouse, and a wired Microsoft mouse (all laser type units).
It seemed to me that even on the Raspbian desktop the mouse tracking isn't smooth - I couldn't get a genuinely straight line even if moving any of the mice along a straight edge such as a ruler.
The effect is relatively subtle on the desktop, but it seems the lower resolution of the ST / Amiga emulators is amplifying the issue.
I spent a while messing with low-level settings to alter mouse input acceleration and so forth, but never resolved the issue.
