Emulators missing on RetroPie 4.0.2 / Retropie possible on VMware? - HELP!
-
Hi All, I am a newbie to the Raspberry Pi world so please be patient.
I recently bought a Raspberry Pi 3 and downloaded RetroPie 4.0.2. After installing it I noticed the some emulators were missing from my home screen. I checked a few forums (mostly this one) and found that the emulators do not show up on Emulation Station unless there are ROMS present for that emulator. I then used WinSCP to connect to the Pi and navigated to RetroPie/roms. I found a few folders in there such as NES and SNES but there were a few that are missing, the Atari ST, Atari 5200 and Nintendo DS among others.
Do I need to install those separately? if so can anyone point me in the direction on how to do this?
Also I is the RetroPie compatible with VMware? I like to get practise with the Linux coding side of it but don't always have access to my Pi from work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Anyways vmware no. With the latest pixel raspbian release you can use realvnc but won't work with emulationstation etc.

Thanks!! I did try to search for it but I guess I was using the wrong terms.

@r34per actually I lied to you sorta. I almost forgot that RetroPie isn't strictly for the raspberry pi. You can also install it on x86 (Ubuntu) which you can install on a virtual machine. There are just some slightly different packages due to the diff platforms.
