I added the shareware version of Doom to the PC folder (DosBox) in order to assess how differently the provided version would run (Ports) against an added version.

      I tested this with:

      • Doom (Shareware)

      • Quake (1 & 2 (Both Shareware))

I found that games added via the PC folder run a lot slower than the versions supplied, is there a reason for this, and is there an easy fix?

you are asking why the emulated versions in dosbox run more slowly than the doom version in ports ? Because the ports version is not emulated, and is compiled to run natively on the RPI vs dosbox which emulates an x86 CPU and dos environment/vga card etc.

@BuZz so, by putting the games from PC (DosBox) into the Ports folder, they will run faster?

@KyleBriggs not necessarily, but if they are original game files that the engine in the ports section utilises yes.
