@najkks there's no need to create it from scratch, you can edit the gamelist.xml files.

Answering your question: for neogeo ES will check three places for a gamelist.xml in the following order, using the first one it finds:

          • ~/RetroPie/roms/neogeo/gamelist.xml
          • ~/.emulationstation/gamelists/neogeo/gamelist.xml
          • /etc/emulationstation/gamelists/neogeo/gamelist.xml

more info about the emulationstation gamelist.xml files can be found here:

            thanks

but i have to scrape the folder first? (neogeo for example)

when scraping, is the artwork etc taking up much space on sdch-card?

well.. ive scraped all night, for about 5 hours!

it still missing pictures for all of these consoles: NES, SNES, N64, NEOGEO, Megadrive etc..

              why is this?

and also.. ive checked the gameslist in the directories you mentioned, but there's only one (in emulationsstation/gameslists/neogeo/
well theres one file per each console - but they only contain about 5-10 of the games availible for editing!

No. I suggested it to avoid creating entries from scratch.

when scraping, is the artwork etc taking up much space on sdch-card?

I don't think so (if you have 32GB). But to be honest I didn't measure it...

it still missing pictures for all of these consoles: NES, SNES, N64, NEOGEO, Megadrive etc..

                why is this?

It create entries only for those games that it found metadata for.

and also.. ive checked the gameslist in the directories you mentioned, but there's only one (in emulationsstation/gameslists/neogeo/

It is expected. I just listed the files where emulationstation searches for metadata (in that order). But usually the file is at ~/.emulationstation/gamelists/neogeo/gamelist.xml.

Tip: copy ~/.emulationstation/gamelists/neogeo/gamelist.xml to ~/RetroPie/roms/neogeo/gamelist.xml and then edit the last so the first is your "backup".

well theres one file per each console - but they only contain about 5-10 of the games availible for editing!

It depends on the number of games that the scraper found metadata.

hmm okey, because before i scraped i could not find the xml-file in any of the directories you mentioned!

                  should i create i manually?

is there a way to "unscrape" so that i get rid of all downloaded artwork? i dont really need them

                    It's up to you. ;-)

You can delete the gamelist.xml files to get rid of metadata.
But to delete the downloaded artwork files you have to delete some directory below ~/.emulationstation/. I think it is named image but I'm not in home now to check it. Check an <image> entry in one of those gamelist.xml, there's a path to the artwork file there.

well.. ive got about 3000 games now.. so is there a way to create it automaticly but without the artwork?

or is it possible to create it so that i might be able to change the names for just the NEOGEO-games? :)

thats the only directory where the name of the games are kind of screwed up

okey.. so if i delete the "downloaded images" folder all the artwork should disapear?

or should i leave the folder and just delete its content?

still. strange that i cant find the xml-file with more than 5-10 games, dont u think?

because i have about 300 - 900 games per console
