retropie on raspberrypi zero stuck on main screen after controller setup

Hi. I am a newbie to the raspberrypi . recently, I tried to install retropie 4.1 to raspberrypi zero. everything goes well, except it stuck on the main splash screen after controller setup. I am not sure what I did wrong, when I push left or right the screen flash with 13 games available and wont go left or right. Please help . thanks

The menu will populate with systems/ports when you add roms/game data.
