Ok, so I got an sd card, and was just about to erase/reformat it to MS-DOS (FAT) using disk utility on a mac, when I looked down and saw that the card is already FAT-32, which I am pretty sure is the correct format. My question is, do I really need to format the card before putting the image on the card? Thanks

If using something like win32diskimager it will rewrite the filesystem anyways so its not really necessary.

Some people do it just cause they want to make sure it's really clear I guess.

@herb_fargus Thanks. But no harm would be done by doing it/ not doing it the way stated, using disk utility on a mac to erase it and format it in MS-DOS (FAT)? I also plan on using ApplePi-Baker to write the image to the card.

I generally do it to make sure its in the right format. Tools these days have made it pretty redundant, but old habits and all that.
