PSPi Version 3 - Custom PCB Prototype
-
@markyh444 The final prototype arrived today. Doing some stress testing, then I'm putting 20 together as kits.
-
@adamspc fantastic!
-
How much is a full kit targeted to cost?
-
@Jeck11 $79 for the ready-to-go board with wires and adapters. The LCD is additional (around $15-20 if you modify one from eBay, or $29 if you want one pre-done)
-
@adamspc What is battery life like on this project?
-
@HurricaneFan 2 hours at least. I've gotten 4 hours with audio switched off and running the battery all the way down.
-
So $110 and that'll covert everything? Nice man!

Well there's still the pi and case to be bought. So maybe $130.
-
@adamspc awesome job!! Great price. Any luck yet with the analog yet?
-
@edmaul69 Yeah I got a basic version of the joystick working. It's all integrated. An improved joystick is planned for a few months from now, once I have time to work on the software.
http://othermod.com/simple-joystick-using-lm339/The board has integrated:
- Battery Charging
- Battery Protection
- Efficient 5.2v Boosting
- Soft On/Off Control with Emergency Shutdown
- Audio Filter and Amplifier
- Low-Battery Warning
- Simple Joystick
-
I'm throwing money at the screen, but I'm down to coins now;) This is so on my Xmas list!
-
@adamspc just seen the pre-order option on your store is up. So so excited, but sadly I'm moving house and can't afford this just yet! Damn you mortgage credit checks!
I fancy a blue board anyway, so will be ordering one later on this year, maybe in the summer. Please keep making these!!!!
-
@markyh444 There's a blue one with your name on it when you're ready

Why would You mod the console that supports tons over tons of emulators just after basic CFW update to support Pi zero which can't even emulate half of those things? Just curious...

You're right. I'll cancel the orders and shut down the site...
Seriously though. I've made it pretty clear on my site that this is for the thousands of dead PSPs out there, and that the PSP has the ability to emulate.
Edit
I should have taken this further with the initial response. This isn't about just playing games, there are tons of devices that can do that. This is about making something yourself and appreciating that you made it. If someone wants to mod a PSP just for emulation, then they should do just that. If someone wants a multipurpose system that can do far more than emulate games, then the PSPi is something they might want to build. Obviously it's directed toward gaming since it's inside the PSP case, but it's far more capable than the PSP ever was. -
Hi...i am a new user here. I've been making stuff with a soldering iron, so the understanding of electronics was there. PCB design is a different area altogether though, and everything with this board was me learning as I went. Every circuit was designed from scratch or modified from free published circuits I found online.

@zxw why would you post a comment that has already been answered 2 messages above?
